  • 201 Introduction to Earth Moving (2.5 hours)
    Provides a broad introduction to the processes of planning and executing earth moving activities on various types of construction projects. Explains the uses of heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, scrapers, excavators, and loaders.

  • 202 Safety, Part Two (1.5 hours)
    Presents safety requirements for operating heavy equipment, activities of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration relative to inspections and reporting requirements, and use of protective gear.

  • 203 Scrapers (22.5 hours)
    Presents the operation and maintenance of scrapers and scraper techniques. Identifies components and controls, discusses the purpose of the bulldozer, and offers hands-on training in operation. Emphasizes the safety of the operator and the equipment while performing scraper work.

  • 204 Bulldozers (20 hours)
    Reviews the use and maintenance of the bulldozer, bulldozer operating techniques, and bulldozer attachments and their uses. Identifies components and controls, discusses the purpose of the bulldozer, and offers hands-on training in its operation. Emphasizes safe operation of the equipment.

  • 205 Backhoes (20 hours)
    Presents types and designs of backhoe excavators, safe operating techniques of the backhoe and front bucket of the backhoe tractor, and use of the backhoe for trenching and digging foundations. Identifies components and controls, discusses the purpose of the backhoe, and offers hands-on training in its operation. Emphasizes setting up the backhoe safely.

  • 206 Front-End Loaders (22.5 hours)
    Includes uses of the loader, periodic maintenance, safe operation, and operator safety. Describes the different types of loaders, along with the various attachments available. Identifies components and controls, discusses the purpose of the front-end loader, and offers hands-on training in its operation.

  • 207 Grades, Part Two (2 hours)
    Presents proper practices for setting grades off benchmarks, and describes methods for setting grades using various types of levels. The trainee is taught how to read and interpret construction plans to determine grading requirements. Also reviews basic grading operations.
